Typical Symptoms of Gestational
Diabetes can present with various symptoms. Still, it’s important to note that some people have diabetes for years without any noticeable symptoms or symptoms that they associate with the onset of diabetes. However, there is particular set of known symptoms that are indicative of diabetes and it is a good idea to be aware of what these symptoms are.
Typical symptoms of diabetes are:
- Urinating frequently
- Excessively thirsty
- Excessive hunger
- Weight loss that can’t otherwise be explained
- Extremely dry skin
- Changes to vision that occur suddenly
- Slow healing sores
- Higher frequency of infection
- Noticeable numbness and tingling in feet and hands
One reason some people don’t realize they have diabetes is because a person may experience symptoms intermittently, “now and then”, rather than on a daily basis. Another reason a person may not realize they have diabetes is the symptoms may be slight. Perhaps the person attributes the intermittent symptoms to something they ate (or didn’t eat) or they chalk the symptom up to some other situation in their lives like too much stress or not enough sleep. It can be easy to overlook the symptoms of diabetes until they manifest into undeniable forms.
